riding improvementWhen riding at Walcot Stables you will have the advantage of a bespoke riding package, riding horses that have been chosen for their temperament and willingness to help you as a rider improve.

Children from as young as 4 years old can also enjoy the riding experience. With their lesson being a combination of in the ménage and out up the lane or around Walcot Estate, riding ponies that will give them confidence and enjoyment whilst under the guidance of one of our instructors and teaching assistants.

With group lessons only being a maximum of 5 people we are able to give each rider individual attention within the group allowing you to get the most out of your lesson, whether you are riding for the first time, getting back in the saddle after time away, be able to improve your horses way of going or learn to jump …we can help you.

As well as individual private lessons we offer private group lessons, so if you wish to ride as a family or group of friends in a friendly relaxed environment you can.

We are very lucky to have access to ride in the Walcot Estate, and up to 1hr escorted hacks can be arranged upon request, for the more confident experienced rider we offer 2hr escorted hacks up to and around Bury ditches an iron aged hill fort. Hacks are individually catered for, having small groups allows the clients to go at a pace they are comfortable with.

What to wear

IMG_0390A small selection of hats and boots are available to borrow, though if you would like to pursue riding more long term, we advise you to buy your own.

Permitted
  • Long comfortable trousers (legging, tracksuit bottoms etc)
  • Boots with a heel (wellington). Walking boots tend to be to chunky
  • Covered shoulders
  • Long hair tied back
Not permitted (for safety reasons)
  • Jewellery and piecings
  • Shorts
  • Trainers
  • Strappy tops

Cancellation fees

Though we understand children can be ill, in order for us to plan our day and ensure everybody has a chance to ride, a cancellation fee of 5o% will be charged if less than 8hrs notice is given.
